In celebration of the White Rose Crafts "We Are The World", Independence Day week promotion, I created a card using my own melting pot of WRC products, imported from different parts of the globe.
I started by selecting my supplies. I chose the Bo Bunny Firecracker 6x6 paper collection, Fiskars Kapow stamp set, Woodware Dino Friends stamp set, Heffy Doodle Elfish Antics and Hello Squeakheart stamp sets.
I picked 3 sheets from the paper pack--I love that these patterns have versatility, beyond patriotic cards--and I cut a strip of the stars & stripes pattern to use as my road, and I stamped the explosion word bubble from the Fiskars Kapow stamp set in the center of a sheet of the patriotic rays printed paper using Medieval Blue Versafine Clair ink. I fussy cut the image and set both aside. Next, I selected the wavy, tone on tone star pattern as my sky and adhered it to a landscape, top folding 5x7 card base, with my "road" strip placed at the very bottom, knowing I would need to trim the card.
Next, I selected 2 of the dinosaur images from the Woodware Dino Friends stamp set, and stamped them on smooth white cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, so I could color them with my Copic markers. I also stamped the train engine and car from Heffy Doodle Elfish Antics and the exercise wheel, water bottle & two mice from the Hello Squeakheart stamp sets and as an afterthought, stamped one of the puffs of smoke from the Kapow set to use as firework smoke. I decided to stick to the color palette in the paper pack, and colored my images in mostly red, blue & yellow--making the dinosaurs green and the mice a light brown. Once colored, I fussy cut all of my images, right on the line.
Using EK Success Two Way Glue Pen, I began to assemble my parade. I adhered the dinosaur in the wind up car first. I glued the running mouse into his wheel, and adhered it in one of the train cars. Then, I flipped over the water bottle image, adhering the other mouse behind it--using it as a launch tube for my fireworks. I used a kraft knife to cut a slit to slide the white puff of smoke into. Once the glue had set, I adhered my little train to the card, behind the car. Finally, I glued down my colorful explosion image as a firework & stamped "POW!" in the center with the Medieval Blue ink, coloring it in with a white gel pen & then adding white highlights and dot detail to my colored images and a faint flight trail for my firework. I also decided to stamp the BAM! & "Vrom...Vrom" sentiment in Versafine Clair Morning Mist ink.
I decided the card needed some bling, so I added a variety of stars from the Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Star Spangled mix, using Glossy Accents. You can't see it in the photo, but I also added a generous coating of Wink of Stella Clear glitter pen to the firework, car and launch tube.
To bring the outside of my card inside, I cut another strip of the stars and stripes Bo Bunny patterned paper & adhered it to the bottom edge of the card. I added the second dinosaur and heart balloon, which I colored like an American Flag, to the bottom left corner & stamped my cobbled together sentiment (part from Dino Friends and part from Your Next Stamp Sprinkles: Sugar Rush stamp set) using Medieval Blue ink. A little Clear Wink of Stella on the balloon, and I called this card finished!
